Welcome, I’m Tom Parkes.

I am dedicated to helping people create rich, meaningful lives—even when hardship, anxiety, or self-doubt show up along the way.

My approach is collaborative and client-centered. I believe therapy works best when you feel truly seen and accepted, while also being gently challenged to grow. Together, we’ll explore your unique experiences and values so you can move toward the life you want with clarity and purpose.

I integrate evidence-based treatments—including Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) — with a holistic understanding of mental health. This allows me to support clients in building meaningful and lasting change.

I earned both my undergraduate and graduate degrees at the University of Connecticut. Before opening my private practice in Avon, CT, I worked with youth in the juvenile justice system, trained mental health professionals across the country in trauma treatment, and spent 5 great years with Third Wave Psychotherapy.

Outside of therapy, I enjoy time with my wife, son, and pup. You’ll often find me playing guitar, being in nature, staying active through sports, or diving into books on Eastern philosophy.

If you’re considering therapy, I’d be honored to walk alongside you. Please feel free to reach out and schedule a consultation.
